Overview

SIGNA MAGNUS is GE HealthCare’s premium 3.0T dedicated head-only MRI system, specifically engineered for advanced neurological imaging, neuroscience research, and biomarker discovery. Rather than using a conventional whole-body gradient system, MAGNUS employs an innovative asymmetric head-only gradient design that enables exceptionally high gradient performance while maintaining access to the patient’s head.

Key Features

  • Dedicated Head-Only 3.0T MRI: Designed specifically for high-end brain and neurological imaging rather than general whole-body MRI.
  • HyperG Gradients: Delivers an exceptional 300 mT/m gradient amplitude and 750 T/m/s slew rate, substantially exceeding conventional whole-body MRI gradient performance.
  • Asymmetric Gradient Design: The gradient isocenter is shifted toward the patient’s head, allowing the system to achieve extremely high gradient performance while avoiding conventional shoulder-width limitations.
  • Advanced Diffusion Imaging: High gradient strength enables extremely high b-values, short echo times (TEs), and advanced diffusion techniques for investigating brain microstructure.
  • ODEN — Oscillating Diffusion Encoding: Enables advanced investigation of tissue microstructure and microvasculature, supporting next-generation neuroscience and oncology research.
  • AIR™ Recon DL: Deep-learning reconstruction technology designed to improve image sharpness and SNR while reducing noise and supporting efficient acquisition.
  • High-Resolution Neuroimaging: Designed to visualize fine anatomical structures, brain microstructure, microvasculature and functional characteristics in exceptional detail.
  • Upgradeable Platform: GE states that selected GE HealthCare 3.0T whole-body MRI systems can be upgraded to SIGNA MAGNUS, potentially reducing capital requirements for institutions already operating compatible systems.
